Roncobello
Workshop with photographer Alessandro Quaranta and architect Francesca Gotti

Alessandro Quaranta will begin the session by sharing photographs of mountain places that have marked his personal journey: a small hamlet of crumbling houses on terraced slopes, a small lake sunken in a mountain depression and surrounded by rocky debris, a gentle grassy clearing found after a steep climb through dense woodland.
These images will become a pretext to involve participants in a collective narrative. Everyone will be invited to share their emotional connection to a place, contributing to a cartography made up of memories and personal connections.

A story suspended between fiction and reality will introduce Francesca Gotti’s contribution. It will serve as the starting point for a work-in-progress project that explores new forms of co-habitation and care for urban natural spaces.
The community is invited to participate with personal experiences related to caring for places and the reciprocity of our relationship with the natural environment.
The narrative invites us to reflect: when we stop cultivating, the forest reclaims the slopes; when we leave space for the uncultivated, the wild spreads; but the uncultivated and the forests are more at risk of being paved over, developed, expropriated. Commons, common goods, and civic uses remind us that land can be collectively inhabited and shared in a fair way.
